David Sanchez (born 31 January 1980, French, graduate of ISAE-ENSMA) began his career in 2005 at Enstone as a junior aerodynamicist with Renault F1. After a spell at McLaren (2007–2012), he joined Ferrari in October 2012, spending more than a decade at Maranello, where he rose through the ranks to Chief Aerodynamicist and then Head of Aerodynamics, before finally becoming Chief Engineer for Car Concept/Performance and leading the design of the 2022 car. After leaving Ferrari in March 2023, he briefly returned to McLaren in early 2024 as Technical Director for Car Concept and Performance, but the two parties agreed to part ways after only a few months, on 2 April 2024. On 2 May 2024 he joined Alpine in the newly created role of Executive Technical Director, overseeing the three departments of Performance, Engineering, and Aerodynamics, reporting directly to the Team Principal.
