Spini is an Italian F1 engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florence and a Master's in Vehicle Engineering from the University of Pisa. He joined Toro Rosso (Faenza) in 2012 as a Vehicle Dynamics Engineer, then moved into a Driver-in-the-Loop simulator engineer role (supporting Ricciardo, Vergne, Kvyat and Verstappen), before being promoted to Track Performance Engineer (working with Sainz). From 2018 he became a race engineer - for Gasly (2018), Kvyat (2019-2020), and Yuki Tsunoda (2021 to August 2024). He was promoted to Chief Race Engineer in August 2024, and again to Head of Trackside Engineering in 2026. His entire career has progressed step by step within the same Faenza-based team (Toro Rosso -> AlphaTauri -> Racing Bulls).
