Enrico Balbo is an Italian F1 aerodynamics specialist with a background in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, with further study at ISAE-Supaero in France and the University of Southampton, and an early brief stint at Airbus. He started out at the consultancy Fondtech, contributing to the development of Renault's championship-winning 2005-2006 cars;
he moved to Williams in 2006, progressing from Aerodynamicist to Track Engineer and on to team leader;
he joined Mercedes in 2013 as Head of the Future Car Aerodynamics group. He joined Red Bull Racing in 2018 as Chief Aerodynamicist, was promoted to Head of Research and Development in 2020, and has served as Head of Aerodynamics since 2021.
