Mattia Binotto was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1969, and holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from EPFL and a master's in Automotive Engineering from the University of Modena. He joined Ferrari in 1995 as an Engine Engineer, spending 27 years at the team, holding roles as Chief Race Engine Engineer, Head of the Engine Department, and Chief Technical Officer, before serving as Team Principal from 2019 to 2022, when he led the team to four race wins and runner-up finishes in both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships. After briefly serving as an advisor at TEXA in 2023, he joined the Sauber/Audi project in August 2024 as COO and CTO, was promoted to head of the Audi F1 project in 2025, and became CEO and Team Principal of the Audi team in 2026.
