Research notes
Jan Sumann is a German race engineer who graduated from Trier University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Trier). Early in his career he worked for several junior formula teams, and while at Koiranen GP he helped Nyck de Vries win the 2014 Formula Renault Eurocup title. He joined Campos Racing (GP3) in 2017 and was later promoted to F2 race engineer, seen as a key figure in turning the team's results around. In 2020 he moved to Hitech Grand Prix, where he now serves as Senior/Chief Race Engineer in F2. RocketReach (drawing on LinkedIn data) shows Jan Sumann currently working as Senior Race Engineer for Hitech GP in FIA Formula 2, is German, previously worked at Campos Racing and Koiranen GP, and has an educational background at Trier University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Trier), consistent with his Chief Engineer role at Hitech in this batch;
Getty Images also has him recorded on the podium as Hitech's race engineer at the 2020 F2 Mugello round.
