Research notes
Mia Bickerton-Jones is a junior engineer for Hitech TGR in F1 Academy, responsible for the wild-card entry whose driver changes at each round. She graduated from JCB Academy (GCSEs and A-Levels in engineering and business), then joined Williams in 2020 as a composites apprentice (winning an Extra Mile award), before moving to Alpine as a composites engineer, spending around five years working in composites. She admits she always knew she wanted to work in racing but ended up in composites almost by accident, later moving into trackside engineering via Richardson Racing (Porsche Carrera Cup GB) and Hitech's GB3 program, before being promoted to junior engineer for Hitech TGR's F1 Academy entry in 2025. She is currently studying part-time for a BSc in Motorsport Engineering. Her uncle, Gavin Bickerton-Jones, a veteran F2 engineer, was her guide into the racing world. Her LinkedIn headline states 'race engineer, studying part time', which fully matches the article's description of her as Hitech TGR's junior engineer studying part-time for a motorsport engineering degree;
her résumé includes composites roles at Williams and Alpine.
