Research notes
Eimear O'Connor is PREMA's race engineer in F1 Academy, working for Ferrari Driver Academy driver Maya Weug and helping her take her first win last season. She studied Mechanical Engineering at Trinity College Dublin (roughly 2017-2022), building a general grounding in physics and thermodynamics. While still at university, her first employer, Team Imperiale, brought her on board, giving her a role as a data engineer in the Italian GT Championship / Lamborghini Super Trofeo — her first real exposure to motorsport. She then completed the Master's in Race Car Testing and Race Engineering (MCTRE) at the University of Pavia in Italy for the 2022/2023 academic year. After that she joined PREMA, first as a data engineer in FIA Formula 3 before being promoted to race engineer in F1 Academy. Her LinkedIn headline reads Race Engineer @ Prema Racing, based in Italy, consistent with the article;
her CV listing Trinity College Dublin mechanical engineering, the University of Pavia race engineering course, and her data engineer role at Team Imperiale is corroborated by multiple sources.
